I’ll begin right off the cuff by stating I’m a 70’s baby. 1970 to be exact, the era of Cereal and Saturday morning Cartoons. Despite growing up in the poverty hardened tenements of the South Bronx, nothing topped that feel good excitement of waking up, pouring a deep bowl of Cereal and binge-ing on Saturday morning Cartoons!
Despite my best efforts to hang on to my youthful vigor and blissfulness of childhood, I like many of you, cannot shake the aging thing. But perhaps unlike some of you, I never grew outta my cereal habit. When the world comes at you sideways, my fall back is my family, the Family Guy, and a bowl of Lucky Charms (My all time Favorite). Something about that feeling never left. Almost half a century later, it never gets old. Cereal and Cartoons go hand in hand, they were made for each other!
Now while my choice in cartoons has evolved to the more adult oriented variety, such as American Dad, Archer and The Boondocks, my taste in starchy grains remains firmly rooted in perhaps the top 5 greatest cereals ever packaged in a colorful cardboard box.
My top 5 Cereals of all time
Lucky Charms, Cap’n Crunch Berries, Apple Jacks, Frosted Flakes and Fruit Loops. It doesn’t get any better than that for me. The crunch, the sweet and the crème de la crème nectar of leftover milk in the bowl. So if you find yourself a little down from the hustle and grind of everyday living, treat yourself to some Adult Pajamas, pour yourself a heaping bowl of whatever your childhood favorite cereal was and revisit those good ol’ Saturday morning worry free days of old.
